Can I access books outside of Carlsbad?

I used to live in Michigan and libraries participated in Co-Ops where I could search for books outside of my local library and have them sent to me at my local library...

Answer

Hello,

The Carlsbad City Library is not part of a library co-op, but we do offer an Inter Library Loan service. This service allows patrons to request books that are not available from the Carlsbad City Library. The service costs $6.00 per item. You can either come into the library and fill out a form or you can call us; you must have a library card with the Carlsbad City Library to request an Interlibrary Loan.

The San Diego County Library performs the same interlibrary loan service, but for free. They also participate in the Link+ and San Diego Circuit co-op networks. The County requires that you have a County of San Diego Library card to use their services.

Thank you,

Reference Librarian
