Do I need to return eBooks, so that I do not get charged a late fee?

If I download an eBook to my Sony Reader do I need to somehow electronically "return" it to the library in order to avoid a late fee? Or is it automatically deleted for me?

Answer

Hello,

No, you don't need to return eBooks. eBooks will automatically expire at the end of the lending period.

You can set your default lending period to 7, 14, or 21 days in the My Account settings on the Serra Digital Download Library site: https://serra.overdrive.com/

If you are using the Libby app, you may choose your preferred checkout period when borrowing an ebook or eaudiobook. Tap on the "xx days" wording when you see the screen which says: "You are checking out [Sample Title] for [xx days]."
Your selection will remain the default preference for subsequent items in Libby until you select a different checkout period.

Thank you,
