I checked out an eBook. My lending period expired, but the book is still on my iPad.
I thought the book was supposed to disappear?

If you are reading in the vintage OverDrive app, the cover can still appear once expired, but the book's content will be unavailable. You are able to remove the book from the app in one of two ways, depending on the version of the app you are using. On the app Bookshelf: 1) Click the plus sign (+) next to the title, and choose "Delete", or 2) Tap and hold the cover of the book until a menu displays, then select "Return to the library".
If you are reading in the Kindle app, there can occasionally be delays between when a book expires and when it's removed from your shelf. We recommend using the Libby app on iPads for a smoother checkout and reading experience.
