What is ProQuest Ebook Central?

What's this Schools & Educators Complete?

Answer

Hello,

ProQuest Ebook Central is a library database of about 15,400 ebooks available for online browsing, reading and download to patrons holding a Carlsbad City Library card. You can find it in the Books & Reading section of our eResources page at https://library.carlsbadca.gov/services/eresources

Schools & Educators Complete is the collection of ebooks which you can access inside Ebook Central. It contains both material for adult instructors and K-12 students; mainly nonfiction, but also some fiction for children and teens. ProQuest describes this collection as "...a foundational base of ebooks for K-12 students and teachers. Key topics for students include history, art, science, music, math, computers, literature, writing, religion, and fiction. Teachers benefit from such subjects as common core, classroom management, curriculum planning, educational technology, tests and measurements; child development, psychology and disabilities, and more."

Ebooks in this collection are available for simultaneous use so there should never be a wait. Reading online only requires your library card, but if you would like to download books and read offline, you'll need to create a free Ebook Central account with ProQuest when prompted. Your username is your library card number. Downloaded books must be read inside the free Adobe Digital Editions software or app. They are not compatible with Libby.

This database has multiple entry points: it can be searched through the Ebook Central interface, the academic ProQuest interface, or the multi-database ProQuest search interface.

This access is provided by the California State Library's K-12 Online Content Project.
