What is the Open Access Journals (ProQuest) database?

ProQuest calls this the Publicly Available Content Database; why should I search it through the library?

Answer

Hello,

The ProQuest Publicly Available Content Database provides search functionality across over 3,000 scholarly open access journals in many fields of study, with full text available for the majority of these titles. Many of these journals are also freely available through their individual websites and publishers.

Most journals in this collection are published in English. The collection includes content from over 70 countries, with nearly 500 titles in Spanish and over 100 in French, as well as other languages.

To access this collection, you'll need your Carlsbad City Library card number. You can search this database directly, or search across this database and others with the general ProQuest search interface.

This database is also linked in the Magazines & News section of our eResources page at https://library.carlsbadca.gov/services/eresources

Please explore and let us know if you have questions.

Thank you,

Reference Librarian
