You can find Coursera on Carlsbad City Library's eResources page in the College & eLearning section.
Coursera’s mission is to help individuals build the skills they need for in-demand jobs.
- Provides learners with access to more than 5,000 courses and certifications led by top businesses, universities, and organizations.
- Courses include: English for Business and Entrepreneurship (ESL), Foundations of Public Health Practice, Become an EMT, Bookkeeping Basics, Introduction to Google Docs, Design a Restaurant Menu, Food and Beverage Management, Branding: The Creative Journey.
- Contains “Gateway Certification,” a program for people without a college degree and with no experience in the field, built by leading companies such as Google. Facebook, and Salesforce.
- Contains nearly all classes included in the Coursera for Business catalog, including professional certificates and specializations. Degree programs are not included in this program.
- Offers subtitles in more than 50 languages
To sign up, you just need your name and an email address. There is no charge to sign up for six months of access to Coursera through Carlsbad City Library, and you won't be asked for any payment information. After your six months of access, you can choose to renew (exact process pending, but your account and class history will be preserved), or if you take no action, your Coursera account under this email address will convert to an free account and you'll only be able to sign up for free classes.
Coursera also offers paid personal accounts to individuals, so please make sure you sign up under the library's subscription.
This access is provided in collaboration with the California State Library, and funded by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, with funding through September 30, 2024. Questions? Please ask!
