Does the library have free park passes?

Answer

In partnership with the First Partner’s Office and the California State Library, Carlsbad City Library cardholders can now check out vehicle day-use passes from the library for free entry to more than 200 California State Parks. This includes Carlsbad State Beach, South Carlsbad State Beach, San Elijo State Beach and Cardiff State Beach.

Each California State Library Parks Pass grants free entry into a state park for one passenger vehicle with a capacity of nine passengers or less. Carlsbad City Library cardholders may reserve a pass online or place a hold over the phone or in person during open business hours.

State Parks passes may be checked out from the library for a period of up to ten days.

Note that the passes do not cover camping fees or per-person fees for tours or museums. Please visit the State Parks’ Frequently Asked Questions page for more details, including a complete list of ineligible parks.
